Rogaining Tasmania - May 2026

‍ROGAINING TASMANIA NEWSLETTER

From the Prez – May 2026

Entries are now open for two RT events, but not for long.

Entries for the Autumn Amble Metrogaine will close on Friday next week (the 15th). Thanks to those of you who responded to the call for help. We still need a few more people to assist at the busy end of the event, so if you can help for a few hours on the afternoon of Sunday, 24th May, please send a message via the contact form.

Thanks to Paddy Pallin, we’re running a winter 3 and 6-hour event in late July, and a training evening intended for newcomers to rogaining in mid-June. Details are in Tara’s article below.

See you at an upcoming event,

Gary

Autumn Amble Entries Closing

By Gary Carroll

Just a reminder that regular entries for the Autumn Amble Metrogaine, being held on May 24th, close on Friday May 15th (next week).

The team of Stephen and Jenny Walker, Becca Lunnon, Kristin Raw and I have put together an interesting course, with varied checkpoints. Questions and their answers can be found along the seaside, in the bush and in deepest suburbia. During the event you'll learn some history, how to be courteous to neighbours, what can cause injury or death and more public utility serial numbers than you really need to know. For the big guns trying to visit every checkpoint, the question is whether you can do it or not. We think you'll go close, but not quite.

Get your team organised and enter now.

The Paddy Pallin Winter Wander 3 and 6-Hour

By Tara Powell

Circle Sunday, the 26th of July, on your calendar and get ready for a 3 or 6-hour winter wander in the Midlands. Wander through open fields, skip through picturesque gorges, explore eucalyptus-covered hills, and have a staring competition with some sheep. The event area, only an hour out of Hobart, is so beautifully varied, blink and the landscape will change.

This event has been designed for everyone from newcomers to the die-hard rogainers. So if you're thinking of graduating from metrogaines to bush rogaines or if you're heading out for your 121st rogaine then this is the event for you. This event will be the inaugural Tasmanian Paddy Pallin Rogaine. Generous sponsorship from Paddy Pallin has allowed us to greatly reduce entry fees. We'll also be running a training event for those new to rogaining. This will be held in Hobart on the evening of the 10th of June. See the event information for details.

So, gather some friends and/or family and get your winter coats out of the cupboard for some winter fun.

Entries for the event close on July 17th, but entries for the training evening close on the 3rd of June.

Detailed event information, photos of the event areas, and online entries are now available here.
